Steers Insurance “Pets” – WaterWerks Communications
Waterwerks was tasked with creating an integrated advertising campaign for a specialty insurance product – Pet Insurance! THE CHALLENGE Pet Insurance was a new product that was being offered by a Steers Insurance underwriter and would be available only to existing Steers Home Insurance policy holders. Steers Insurance wanted to tell existing customers of the product availability. OUR APPROACH We immediately saw that Pet Insurance was a big opportunity for Steers. Why just talk to existing customers when we could tell everybody about something new? We took it as an opportunity to increase the awareness of not only the product, but of the Steers brand. Also, we were able to address both the target audience and the subject matter by capitalizing on Newfoundland and Labrador’s unique position of being represented by not one but two varieties of dog. Logistically, it was an exercise that had many challenges. Working through them required some special resources – a dog wrangler and a cat tamer. THE RESULT In just one day, we were able to pull off a shoot with a Newfoundland dog, a Labrador puppy and a cat. We also got enough footage to make 4 television spots and, with some creative twists on our original ideas, we were able to compensate for the talent’s resistance to keep to the script.
